Bio:

Lorraine Caputo, LCSW, graduated from the Smith College School for Social Work (1986) and worked in outpatient psychiatric settings such as Montefiore Medical Center and at The Payne Whitney Clinic of New York Presbyterian Hospital. In these hospital settings Ms. Caputo worked as a clinician with children, adolescents and adults, running women's groups for women in abusive relationships, evaluating and treating women with postpartum depressions and psychosis, training and supervising Psychiatric Residents and Social Work Interns. She was an active member and Coordinator of the Payne Whitney Clinic's Marital and Family Therapy Clinic during her tenure there. In private practice since 1991 in both New York City and Maplewood, NJ, Ms. Caputo has specialized in women's mental health from teenage years through middle and older age. Her special interests include infertility and the impact on the couple, couples therapy with both heterosexual and gay couples, depression during pregnancy, postpartum depression and depression throughout the woman's life cycle. She has taught in the two-year psychotherapy training program at The Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy, and was Co-Chair of the Colloquium Series for the Manhattan Institute for Psychoanalysis in New York City. She currently volunteers her time to the South Orange Maplewood School District's Parenting Center and runs parent support groups for the district. She graduated from the 5 year psychoanalysis program at The Manhattan Institute for Psychoanalysis (2000), trained at The University of Pittsburgh in IPT (Interpersonal Psychotherapy)(2003) and Family Therapy at the Fordham Tremont Community Mental Health Center's Family Therapy Training Program (1991). She has a certificate in the Trauma Theory and Treatment from The Manhattan Institute for Psychoanalysis (1997). Lorraine lives with her husband, 13 year old daughter, two cats and a dog in Maplewood, NJ.
