Welcome. We’re so glad you are here.

PSI-CANADA is the Canadian presence of Postpartum Support International (PSI), the world’s leading non-profit organization dedicated to helping those suffering from perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, the most common complication of childbirth.

Our mission is to promote awareness, education, prevention, and treatment of perinatal mental health issues affecting birthing people, their families, and support systems in all areas of Canada.

In March 2022 the World Health Organization (WHO) launched its first ever global guidelines to support women and newborns in the first six weeks postpartum. These recommendations stress the urgency of quality physical and mental health support in this critical period following childbirth. Click here for full details.

About PSI Canada

Our mission of PSI Canada is to promote awareness, enhance prevention, and increase access to treatment of perinatal mental illness in Canada.

Our vision of PSI Canada is that every individual, couple, and family in Canada will have access to information, community-based peer support, and evidence-based professional care to manage perinatal mental illnesses.

Our purpose of PSI Canada is to promote our vision through advocacy; collaboration with key stakeholders; and provide up to date education to the public and professionals about perinatal mental health.

Our aims are to:

  • Extend the services of Postpartum Support International to the public and perinatal mental health professionals across Canada.
  • Provide centralization of perinatal mental health support services across Canada.
  • Offer educational opportunities and resources for both the public and perinatal mental health professionals in Canada.

The Climb

Every year, PSI hosts The Climb, a movement that invites people from all over the world to host local walks and events to spread awareness of mental health challenges of new families. A Climb can be as simple as a play-date in a park, a hike, or a more elaborate event. The majority of Climbs are held in June, near the summer solstice in celebration of long sunny days and a family’s climb from anxiety and depression to recovery.

We gather as a community to walk and socialize. We meet fellow survivors, supporters & providers. #climbout
