Daniela María Piñate Arévalo was born in Caracas, Venezuela. She has a background in communications, journalism, speaking, and content creation. Daniela is a mother of two girls and is a postpartum depression survivor. After experiencing postpartum depression, she coupled her professional background and personal experiences to spread awareness about perinatal mental health.
Daniela has created one-to-one peer mentor programs to support pregnant and postpartum mothers and provides information through stories about motherhood and mental health on her online platform @madreterapia which can be found on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube.
After volunteering with PSI for 3 years assisting with support groups, social media, and recruiting coordinators in Latin America Daniela joined the Perinatal Mental Health Alliance for People of Color as the Communications Associate.
Daniela has managed to transform her experience with depression into a mission to support and educate Spanish-speaking mothers in Latin America about perinatal mood disorders.
