Perinatal Psychosis Task Force

Heather has been able to share her personal experience with postpartum psychosis after the birth of her second child in 2008. Thankfully, due to the kindness of complete strangers, she survived that traumatic experience and received the care she needed. A couple of years into her recovery, Heather decided to use her voice and share her story, at events such as Ignite DC, PechaKucha Silver Spring, and This Is My Brave, in hopes of helping other new mothers and their families. More importantly, she wants to help erase the stigma associated with mental illness and improve the standard of mental health care for all!

Heather is a full-time government consultant, content strategist, and mother of two teenagers. She currently lives in Maryland with her two children and husband of 20 years. Heather was born and raised in Vermont where earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Castleton University. After moving to Silver Spring, Maryland in 1999, she earned her MBA, while working full-time, from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business. She loves walking her rescue dog Rhys, photography, crafts, sci-fi, Marvel movies, and writing.
