Dr. Kathy W. Smith is Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson. She is Assistant Dean of Student Affairs in the College of Medicine and Director of Graduate Medical Education Faculty Development. Dr. Smith earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from Arizona State University and a Medical Degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine. She completed residency training in psychiatry and a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Arizona and joined the faculty in 2006. She has specialized training in the assessment and treatment of perinatal mood disorders and working with transgender and gender nonconforming youth. Dr. Smith provides clinical care and supervises medical students, residents, and fellows at Banner University Medical Center and the Crisis Response Center. She is a member of the Association of Medical Education Scholars (AMES) and in involved in educational research and faculty development in both undergraduate and graduate medical education.
