Perinatal Mental Health Alliance Provider December Blog

Provider Spotlight

“I like to provide resources to families for minimal or no cost. I also host a yearly baby shower for families in my community. My community baby shower is an ‘actual’ baby shower for families that celebrates and provides them with the needed necessities as they transition into parenthood. We all need one another in some way, shape, or form, and I love helping my community.”

Meet Angel Thornton-Burns, a certified fertility, placenta encapsulation specialist, and birth & postpartum doula. She is a military spouse, mother of 2 children,  2 year business owner, and PSI support group leader. In addition, Angel is a creative, loving, and vibrant woman who is currently pursuing her public health degree at Southern New Hampshire University.

Between being devoted to her clients and family Angel takes time to recharge by painting or going to brunch with a group of moms she met at a postpartum brunch she held earlier in the year.

Angel, we thank you for all you do for your community. If you want to connect with her visit her at

Support Group Leader Spotlight

Sandy Banerjee is one of our Desi Chaat support group leaders who has been serving help seekers since 2021.

Sandy shares, “This group is a safe place to share your feelings, concerns and anything else. Talking about the difficulties of pregnancy and postpartum is kind of taboo in South Asian families, so this group gives moms a platform to talk with others who can relate and share the good, bad and ugly part of their journeys.”

Our Desi Chaat group meets every 1st and 3rd Thursday at 7:30 PM EST/4:30 PM PST at and Sandy highlights, “this group gives moms a chance to know they are not alone and it’s okay to ask for help when you need it. It’s okay to take care of yourself and you’re NOT a bad mom if you do so.”

If you’re looking for support, understanding, and community please attend our Desi Chaat support group by registering here.

Sandy, we thank you for the work you do for our help seekers, Alliance community, and within PSI. You can connect with her at the following:
