Dr. Hoffman has dedicated the last 20 years to promoting maternal and child health and wellness. Melissa is a former labor and delivery nurse, doula, childbirth educator, breastfeeding educator, and community education specialist. She earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Kansas and currently works as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner integrated in an OB Gyn clinic at LMH Health in Lawrence, Kansas. Melissa specializes in reproductive mental health and has earned certification as a Perinatal Mental Health provider. She is the founder of Build Your Village and facilitates a weekly perinatal mental health peer support group. Melissa is currently serving as President of Postpartum Support International of Kansas. Melissa serves as a perinatal mental health content expert for Kansas Connection Communities, a grant funded initiative with a goal of increasing universal screening of pregnant and postpartum women for mood/anxiety and substance use disorders. Melissa lives in Lawrence, Kansas with her husband and two boys.
